Fly.com domain sells for $1.8 million

Posted by admin on Feb 1, 2009 in Uncategorized |

The WWW is abuzz with the news of Travelzoo purchasing the Fly.com domain for a cool $1.8 million. TechCrunch alerted its readers earlier on about Travelzoo acquiring this pricey domain name so that it could be developed into a travel search engine. We’re not too sure whether this endeavor would take off or not (no puns intended!) but let’s just sit tight and see where fly.com will well, fly us. :)

Also if you must know, $1.8 million is like peanuts in the world of exorbitantly priced domains. Business.com was sold for $7.5 million in the year 1999 while Yellow Pages acquired YP.com for close to $4 million! Most recently Vibrators.com was snapped up for a million bucks. Phew. Smoking! :P
